BENJAMIN RIGBY
One of the many hungry, but happy, musicians in St. John's, Ben Rigby brings the unique sound of the banjo to the forefront of the local music scene. Working with many of the talented musicians in the city he is currently exploring new ways to invoke older techniques in a modern setting. Performing either solo or as part an ensemble, a fresh and new sound emerges from an old repertoire.
As a clawhammer-style banjo player influences are drawn from diverse sources ranging from Roscoe Holcomb to Phish. The style is rhythmic, improvisational, and full of tone. One is immersed in a vision of log houses and tall trees as the setting and inspiration for the jazzy, quirky song writing that is Benjamin Rigby.
