BUCKMAN  COE

Buckman was born in London, England and, raised in Edmonton, Canada. He grew up singing along to the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, U2, and later on Nick Drake, Ben Harper, and Jeff Buckley. He has played in bands wherever he has lived in the UK, Canada, and the States. While composing and performing have always been important to him, up until the last year they have been secondary to studies & work in the social, ecological, and psychological realms. All of this experience has greatly influenced his work and given his songs an expressive and storytelling depth. Latest Waking is his first -full-length album, self-produced & recorded mostly in his Vancouver apartment. The songs on the album reflect his intimate solo performances as well as more up-tempo full-band performances. His music flows somewhere between soulful folk and alt-country blues, with a strong vocal and lyrical emphasis. Buckman Coe's Band: John Bews is most known in the Vancouver scene as the bassist with Tambura Rasa. A fantastically laid back guy, he plays exactly what is needed in each song and hits all the sweet notes. He is always in the pocket. I love the way he provides such a solid root throughout the songs. Trevor Grant has recently joined Buckman and John to play the drums. John and him are already and established rhythm section, most notably playing together in Tambura Rasa. Trevor's dynamic and precise playing have allowed my live renditions of songs to take on epic proportions, and the swells of emotion to be oceanic.
