Kae Sun – Lion on a Leash
The follow up to 2007’s Ghost Town Prophecy EP, Lion on a Leash, by Toronto-based artist Kae Sun is here. The album contains twelve tracks of soulful, melodic, and smooth tunes that will take you on a ride like no other. Lion on a Leash conjures up a wide range of emotions from melodramatic to energetic, all of which come across as genuine and sincere. This music is literally for all occasions and is full of deep, affecting lyrics.
Kae Sun exercises his eclectic musical capacity throughout Lion on a Leash. A mixture of singing and rapping is intertwined on this record. The track “Freedom Train,” offers a moving and vivid description of desperation and
pain that paints a picture of events that began on “18 April 1980.” The record continues the same thematic sequence with the banging track, “Free,” an anthem that highlights hopefulness in search of freedom.
Enlisting the assistance of Miles Jones, Kojo Damptey, and Larry Graves, Lion on a Leash is a very well produced album. The musicianship is first rate and the songs are understatedly memorable.
