COURTNEY TOWNSEND

   Courtney Nicole Townsend is a Canadian artist whose interest and passion for photography exploded on highway travels across the country of Canada.   A self taught photographer, she draws inspiration from the world around her, finding beauty in the abstract, people,nature and what might be considered the "darker" side of culture, always attempting to capture the spirit of whatever may lie in front of her.  Her travels to the Middle East, living in New York City and wandering the Canadian landscape have significantly added to the depth of her work and a pursuing of spirituality in the physical world.  She is a journalism graduate and a mother of one.   

"The lessons and reminders of nature and her creatures interest me. I believe my photographs are most successful when they show beauty but also evoke a sense of wonder and mysteriousness.  I want my photographs to offer people a world they don’t normally see; that world may be physical or it may lie within the individual. "
