LO KEYNOTE
Nigel “Lo Keynote” Berringer’s 8 years in the crates has given him a broad understanding of the industry, and all ends of hip hop production. Having also worked as an engineer has given him the added ability to see songs thru from start to finish. He records artists, edits, and mixes songs daily. Lo is also the west coast representative for The Maple Mothership, who helps supply hip hop content to college radio throughout the country. In 2009, Lo won the first ever Vancouver Vanquish Beat Battle against a series of tough competitors. He then returned for the second Vanquish, and successfully defended the title. 2009 also marked the release of Snak The Ripper’s “Sex Machine”, and Camobear Records label mate Young Sin’s “Who I Am”. As well, a promotional EP for artist Jeff Spec entitled “freE Press”. 2007 saw the release of Lo Keynote’s “High Hats”, an instrumental album which charted as high as 5th on the college radio charts. As a student of music, eager to advance his techniques, Lo obtained a diploma in audio engineering at Pacific Audio Visual Institute. Unknown to some, Nigel is an accomplished artist, with a background deep rooted in graffiti culture. He still creates works with paint so often, but the music has definitely taken over. 2010 was started off right, with a release of the ATCQ remake of “Can I Kick It” on January 1st, which Lo produced for El Da Sensei of the legendary Atifacts. It is the first track on DJ Chong Wizard’s Eclectic Relaxation Mixtape. Lo Keynote plans to release a compilation album of tracks he has produced for a large lineup of talented artists, pre releases and exclusives. Add Lo on Facebook, Follow on Twitter, and most importantly, listen to his music. Available beats and compositions can be heard at Myspace.com/lokeynote, there should be a big tune to be made for any rapper or singer.
