MARCUS PALADINO
Marcus Arthur Paladino was born in Vancouver, BC on September 27th 1990. Moving to Nanaimo at a young age, he'll always call Vancouver Island home. During high school, Marcus found himself only getting A's in two classes: Gym and Photography.
Though what he wanted to do as a career was still undeclared, his marketing teacher simply put it: “Find what you love to do, then find a way to get paid for it.” But when telling others of his idea about going to school to study photography, most people were surprised to say the least. Marcus had realized this dream a little too late, and was put on the waiting list for North Island College's Professional Photography program in Courtenay.
During his year off between high school and college he spent it working as a labourer/framer for a construction company in Whistler with two of his best friends. With lots of beer, snowboarding and hard work later and it was time for Marcus to go back to school. During his time at NIC he spent the majority of it at Mount Washington whenever he could. This is where he found his niche in action sports photography, during December of 2009 while reading a Transworld Snowboarding magazine a quote from Bob Plumb inspired him to continue down this path: "Photography and snowboarding is a passion, not a job. If you keep it that way, you’ll always be happy.”
To confirm his dream he spent two weeks interning with professional snowboard photographer Brian Hockenstein during the World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler. Marcus has obtained his Professional Photographer Certificate from NIC, and has now moved back to Vancouver to work, ride, and shoot at Cypress Mountain.
Marcus' goal in mind is moving to a mountain town next season, so he can begin to live the dream.
