MATT PARSONS

An Englishman living in Canada, born in a small sleepy town by the sea in England called Sidmouth. After graduating at Plymouth University in Design: Photography I moved to the vibrant city of Brighton which is just an hour from London. There I became the instigator for monthly Flickr meets which now see at least fifty photographers meeting to discuss, share techniques and have a few drinks along the way.

Flickr was a huge reason for my move to Canada as its the place I met my partner of three years. After a long distance relationship I finally managed to relocate to Halifax, NS as a permanent resident. My photography has been well received, since arriving I have shot some interiors for a local business’, publicity for a fitness center and a wedding in the valley. 

Self portrait is certainly a strong point of mine as I successfully completed the ‘365 Days’ project back in 2006. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept it involves taking a self portrait daily for an entire year, the image is usually posted on Flickr for people to comment. Its become quite a phenomenon now with over 19,000 contributors.

I love comic books, movies and collecting toys, often these interests will cross over into my photography. My images allow myself to live in a different world taking a lot of influence from movies. Working at a cinema for over 20 years can influence you in a big way.
