MEAGHAN OGILVIE
Meaghan is a Toronto based photographer and began exhibiting her unique work upon graduating from Sheridan College’s Applied Photography Program. Her first series, “Nightmares” in 2004, consisted of mystifying images that reflected her personal and chaotic life. Some viewers likened the work to film stills and graphic novel art.
Following the “Nightmares” series, came a dramatic but positive shift in her work and led her to shooting underwater. Her father’s disability was the inspiration behind the idea to express a moment without constraints. Her goal was to create images that would move people with its vibrancy and beauty, so that any viewer would feel at peace, weightless and free of restrictions. The Underwater Series has been well received having won the Prime Gallery People’s Choice Award out of 500 exhibitors at the 2008 Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and the Corporate Purchase Award at the 2009 Toronto Artist Project at the Liberty Grand.
As a freelance photographer, Meaghan has had the opportunity to travel and work at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and locally for the Toronto International Film Festival, Toronto Fashion Week and Toronto Life Magazine.
Currently, she is continuing to explore the possibilities of the underwater world and is establishing herself as a photographer in Toronto.
