PAINT
Paint is a rock 'n' roll band that blends its signature "wall of sound" with insightful lyrical commentaries, drawing upon a hybrid of Brit rock and North American influences (where Oasis, Radiohead, Catherine Wheel, Idlewild, and U2 meet R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, and The Tragically Hip).
Some recent reviews have called Paint's new album, Can You Hear Me?, "5 stars: in your face, but not overpowering, melodic but still harsh, well-crafted but not over-perfected... desperate but not emo, and heartbreaking yet uplifting... (with) an underlying sense of sonic maturity and strong lyrical insight... manages to retain the attractive simplicity of a great rock album" (Youthink) and "(An) alt-rock relic... done with so much audacity and seismic guitar crunch... (Paint) wisely keep the sound big, but the anthemic denouements concise" (Montreal Mirror).
Originally from Vancouver, the band has been gathering a steady buzz and fanbase in Toronto since relocating in mid-2009, and have shared the stage with Paper Moon, Hinterland, Parlour Steps, The Feminists, Marah, Wilie Nile, The Februarys, Threat From Outer Space, The Orchid Highway, The Vicious Guns, Veda Hille, and The Ascot Royals. Paint also recently performed at the Toronto Light of Day Concert series, frequently headlined by Bruce Springsteen and the Goo Goo Dolls, as well as being a Steam Whistle and 102.1 The Edge NuMusic Nite featured artist.
