PAUL GIBBONS
Hailing from Warrington England, Paul was born in to a house filled with music. In particular a house with a big love for The Beatles. It was no surprise to anyone when Paul, only at the age of 3, started tinkling on the family’s player piano... often for hours at a time.
By the age of 16 Paul was an accomplished piano player, performing Boogie Style Piano for his entire school, as well as often entertaining family and friends.
It was clear that music would come to define Paul’s life. By the time Paul had turned 18, he had come to master not only the piano, but the guitar, the bass guitar and his singing ability.
It was at this age that Paul sought out Blues Jams, honing his skills as a player, as well as spending hours writing songs.
In 1997 Paul, along with his cousin whom he’d jam with, formed The Rye Catchers, which would go on to release 3 Albums from 1998 to 2004.
With the hard work and determination that Paul would become known for, the band would enjoy some modest success throughout Western Canada, as well as having a die- hard following back home locally and in England.
The band regularly performed on local TV and Radio Stations, recorded with Randy Bachman of BTO fame, toured Western Canada, L.A. and England twice, and went on to be ranked number (s) 1 and 2 on Garageband.com for best Pop/Mood songs.
A Video Fact Grant was awarded to Paul as well as numerous songs placed in the TV Series Cold Squad, in addition to a Feature Film song placement (Deadly Waters).
After the demise of The Rye Catchers, Paul has gone on to become one of the most sought after vocalist and bass players throughout the Vancouver area. Paul keeps very busy performing with several cover bands, as well as recording different artists as a professional sound engineer.
“Out With the Introspect” is Paul’s first outing as a solo artist... this album has given Paul the platform to showcase his many talents, having written, performed, recorded, produced and edited the entire album.
With a new band in place, featuring some of the city’s best players, Paul has set course to perform and promote his new material... playing many of Vancouver’s best music venues and planning to tour Canada in the Spring of 2010.
