TANGERINE  POETREES

Once there was a way in a College of Arts, a guy called Erick had a project of producing a band, whose name would be TANGERINE POETREES. He invited some friends who loved music just like him to put together pop rock instruments (guitar, bass, drums) and classical instruments (Cello and violin), forming the group.

The curious name came specifically from two songs: TANGERINE by Led Zeppelin an LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS by the Beatles. In this last one Lennon says: “Picture yourself on a boat on a river with TANGERINE TREES and marmalade skies”. After this occurred the junction of Poetries + Trees = POETREES. Erick wanted to show that the music has a kind of poetry in the lyrics. But the real meaning of this group is the search for the magical music, timeless and ageless. This search brings the sound variety and the melodic songs that demonstrate their admiration for big names in the music, from Classical to Pop.

The band launched The First Album {the album of false starts} in 2005 and it was considered one of the best independent album in Brazil that year. In October 2006, they launched their (on-line) EP called Elm Tree in Mendips. Almost three years later, in September 2009, they proudly presented The Second Album {the album of measured pleasures}, when the band reinvented itself making a heavier sound.  In this album the seven-member-band introduce 18 different instruments as well as Accordion, Ukulele and Kazoo, experimenting a new formula for their music.
